G.T. - The Gun-Toting Extra Terrestrial
This was written for the Shacknews Jam: The Third in 2019. The theme of the jam is "__________ with guns". I stumbled around trying to think of a game that didn't have guns, and it occurred to me that remixing the reviled 2600 classic E.T. would be a great fit.
Just like the original game, you have to pick up all the pieces to G.T.'s gun, and kill agents until your ship arrives.
Well, maybe not just like the original game...
PLAYING THE GAME
Unfortunately there aren't any on-screen controls, so you need a physical keyboard to play.
To start the game once the title screen animation is done, you have to click your mouse or hit the SPACEBAR to begin.
To move G.T. around, use WASD, and the SPACEBAR is the action button. Later, you'll need IJKL as well.

Good stuff! I couldn't reach the end, the agents were a bit too competent!
Fun concept. I found the head-exclusive hitbox pretty frustrating when trying to shoot the agents with L or J.
It's all on the y-axis. The hitboxes are at all the sprites' feet (including the bullets). I actually pushed a tweak last night -- they were misaligned a little bit.
I love that the agents are carrying walkie-talkies.
There was a ton more I intended to do with the game but ran out of time. I wanted to record a bunch of dumb sound clips of things like the agents saying, "Our walkie-talkies are useless against him!"
